What is eustress or positive stress

Not all stress, that mixture of feelings of anxiety and overwhelm, is harmful. There are times when you have to do some activity that is difficult for you and the result is very satisfactory, and even better than you thought it would be. That feeling of having done a task, work or exercise correctly is what we call eustress, positive stress.

Steps to follow:

  1. Although the word contains its antithesis, “good” stress, it is a positive feeling. In negative stress, when we go through a stressful activity our feelings are represented with anxiety, anguish or fear. Instead, the feelings after eustress are of joy and satisfaction.
  2. To get to eustress a good way is to have a purpose in life, something that allows us to  face our tasks with joy. Friends and family are also very important, as they help us to gain balance and share bad and good experiences. Another point to take into account is to set yourself challenges to overcome challenges, both physically and intellectually.
  3. In any case, the most important thing of all is knowing how to handle stress, not letting it rule our actions or invade other areas of our life. If we know how to take full advantage of it, it can help us gain momentum both at work and in our personal life and achieve the well-being that we long for.
